The Procedure
Dr. Mascaró is an expert and teaching injector, familiar with all of the different injectable fillers currently available on the market. The specifics of the procedure depend upon the filler used.
What is the difference between fillers?
The most common fillers are hyaluronic acid fillers. These are the Restylane, Juvederm, and Belotero family of fillers. Hyaluronic acid is a carbohydrate commonly found in our skin. It works by providing a framework to the skin by binding collagen and elastin together, then attracting water, for an overall anti-aging effect.
Different fillers have different "cross-linking" and therefore behave differently. There are different fillers for different issues, allowing Dr. Mascaró to cater injectables to your specific needs. For example, Juvederm Voluma serves as great support for the midfacial soft tissue and helps to restore the soft tissue of the midface to its native location.
Lip Fillers
Lip Fillers are particularly popular with Dr. Mascaró's younger patients - a natural looking, fuller lip can enhance an already beautiful face
Sculptra
Sculptra is a Poly-L-Lactic Acid product which works to correct shallow to deep facial wrinkles and folds, as it replaces lost collagen, which can help provide a refined, more youthful looking appearance.
It Is different from Hyaluronic Acid fillers in that it is not an overnight miracle or a quick-fix, however it is long lasting. It is unique in that it is a facial injectable that gives you subtle results over time, replacing lost collagen, giving you a more natural-looking appearance, without giving you away.
A full treatment of Sculptra takes an average of three injection sessions over a few months, can last more than three years - that being said, most patients are happy after two sessions. The number of injection sessions and the number of injections per session will vary from person
Radiessse
Radiesse is made up of microspheres of calcium hydroxylapatite suspended in a gel. Radiesse restores a more youthful appearance to the face and hands (particularly good at this).
It improves sagging facial soft tissue and deep nasolabial folds by replenishing lost volume primarily in the cheek area. Additionally, it stimulates collagen production for gradual improvement over a period of months.
Other Applications
In certain instances, Dr. Mascaró can perform the "8 point liquid facelift". Dr. Mascaró is one of the few doctors trained in this technique and it is a revolutionary way of obtaining maximal results with minimum product and downtime.
A "liquid facelift" can be accomplished with a variety of different products as well, and tailored to your own individual needs. Ask Dr. Mascaró during your consultation if this is something that you may be a candidate for.
For certain patients, fine nasal correction can be accomplished with fillers. Fixing a crooked nose, redifining the nasal tip, improving the contour and profile - these are all things that can be done with particular fillers. In the correct patient, the results can be dramatic.
Post Operative Care
Different fillers will last you different amounts of time depending on where they are placed. Dr. Mascaró will be more than happy to go into further detail depending on the products discussed what expectations you can have from them.
